Connection > Side By Side
Develop self-expression and self-identity.
Side-by-Side is a gentle, neurodivergent-affirming group for young people who want space to explore who they are and how to advocate for themselves, without pressure to perform, share, or socialise in expected ways.
Who this group is for:
- Young people aged 11–14 years
- Neurodivergent-identifying (self-identification welcome)
- No diagnosis or NDIS funding required
- Particularly suited to those who prefer observing first, parallel engagement, and clear structure with flexibility
Participants will have the opportunity to:
- Explore identity, strengths, and preferences in playful, non-clinical ways
- Build foundational self-advocacy skills (needs, boundaries, preferences)
- Develop language for self-understanding at their own pace
Sessions may include:
Quizzes and games, short videos, interactive scenarios, choice-based activities, and quiet reflection.
There is no expectation to speak, share personal information, or engage socially - participation can look like watching, listening, drawing, writing, or simply being present.
Why “Side-by-Side”?
Growth doesn’t have to be loud, fast, or forced. This group honours difference, autonomy, and learning through shared presence rather than performance.
